Double fatality in head-on collision in Ford County

Two pickup trucks collided, killing both drivers in rural Ford County Tuesday afternoon.

77-year-old Jack D. Moody of Roberts was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash near Melvin.

The other driver (not related), was identified as 51-year-old Debra Moody of Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was pronounced dead at Carle Hospital in Urbana.

Illinois State Police released the information about the accident this (Wed) morning. The collision occurred at 4:46 Tuesday afternoon southwest of Melvin. It was near Illinois 54 and Ford County Road 1000 East.

State police report Jack Moody was northeasterly on Route 54 when his truck veered into the oncoming lane of traffic and hit a rear wheel of a trailer being towed by a semi-tractor driven by a 55-year-old man from Fort Wayne, Ind.

Moody's truck then collided head-on with Debra Moody's pickup truck, which was following the semi-tractor.The driver of the semi was not injured.
