Kankakee County Under-Sheriff Mike Downey has a new title today (Wednesday) He's now Sheriff Mike Downey.

The Kankakee County Board (Tuesday) unanimously endorsed Downey to replace now-retired Sheriff Tim Bukowski.

Downey had the blessing of the county Republican Central Committee. He'll serve up until a special election for sheriff is held in November.
