Downtown Kankakee shooting wounds 28-year-old man

Kankakee Police are seeking help from the public after a Sunday morning shooting injured a 28-year-old man. The injuries were not life-threatening, according to police reports. A new release stated officers responded to the 200-block of S. Schuyler Avenue at 1:45 am.

Officers located the victim in the parking lot. He was transported to an area hospital. Police stated a suspect vehicle was seen leaving the area. Anyone with information can contact detectives at 815-933-0426.

Kankakee Mayor Chris Curtis told the Daily-Journal the popular MSMF was a rousing success, with no problems. The shooting, he said, upset him, in that, this incident will overshadow the success of the MusicFest.
