DUI arrest on I-57, drugs and cash found

Bradley police responded to a report of a possible drunk driver last Thursday on I-57. A 66-year-old South Holland man was stopped and arrested for driving under the influence of drugs.
a were alerted about a car driving well under the posted speed limit (65) and weaving all over the southbound lanes about 3 p.m., according to reports.


Harold D. Armstead told the arresting officer he was on how way to Hazel Crest from Chicago to attend an AA meeting. He was observed driving well below the posted limit and weaving about on I-57.
The police report indicated Armstead seemed confused when he was told he was in Kankakee County.


The Bradley Police Department K9 (Riggs) detected a presence of drugs in the vehicle. A baggie containing heroin was found in the console. Two more baggies with heroin and $6,700 in cash were found during a search of Armstead.


He was also charged with possession of a controlled substance.
