Early Voting delayed for Illinois Primary

Objections to some Presidential candidates on the March Illinois Primary Election ballot will delay early voting and absentee voting by mail. Area county clerk offices have issued notice about the delay, and once the process is straightened out, the public will be notified.

Iroquois County Clerk Lisa Fancher, Kankakee County Clerk Bruce Clark, Vermilion County Clerk Cathy Jenkins, and Will Nesbitt, Executive Director of the Danville Election Commission, all provided news releases about the delay.

The objections on file will delay any early-voting until late February.

Fancher tells Iroquois County voters "the ballots and voting machines should be available no later than February 17th. It's possible, she said in a press release, certification will be made prior to the 17th. If that happens, notification will be made."

Early Voting and Vote by Mail ballots were supposed to start going out February 4th. And due to these Presidential objections they will not be available February 4th.

Local ballot information is ready to go, but the presidential objections won't allow local officials to complete the ballots.

Questions can be directed to local election offices.
