Local election offices across Illinois will be busy next week as the push toward the March primary accelerates.

Some counties are already open for early voting. Others will open next week. But all local election offices in the state are supposed to at least be ready for early voters by the end of the week.

The Illinois State Board of Elections requires that grace period registration begin Wednesday and that local offices post hours for early voting at all of their polls by the end of next week. McLean County Clerk Kathy Michael says this is the beginning of the push toward the March Primary.

That decision, whether Democratic AG candidate Scott Drury will stay on the ballot, has some counties waiting to start early voting.

Michael hopes for a decision next week, but admits the courts are bound by the same calendar as election authorities are.

Iroquois County Clerk Lisa Fancher has announced the Clerk's Office will be open for Grace Period Registration and Early Voting February 21 - March 20. Citizens can register to vote and also submit a change of address form at the Clerk's Office.

If you register to vote and wish to vote for the March 20 Primary, you must Vote In Person at the office.
