Several events are being held to recognize Earth Day. At Kankakee Community College, the celebration of Sustainability Week (April 20-24) includes moves, educational programs, and also a special educational day on Thursday at Lorenzo Smith Elementary School in Hopkins Park.

Two KCC faculty members will meet with about 200 students from kindergarten thru 8th grade at the Lorenzo Smith Sustainability & Technology Academy. Students will receive educational resources and take part in hands-on learning demonstrations on engineering, electricity and renewable energy. Faculty members Tim Wilhelm and Jennifer Martin will demonstrate energy concepts.
