Kankakee is creating a city manager position within city goverment operations. The City Comptroller, Elizabeth Kubal, is the choice to serve the position. An ordinance was read Monday creating the new position. Formal approval comes July 15 with the consent of Kankakee's 14 aldermen.
Mayor Chris Curtis says in a news release, Kankakee will remain a mayoral-led government but Kubal will bring a wealth of budgetary and economic development experiece to a much-needed position. Curtis' belief is that the time has come for the City of Kankakee to retain a City Manager to further progression for growth and economic stability. The mayor also said a city manager will provide a valuable resource to not only assist and manage day-to-day operations, but also promote progress and stability the community deserves,
Kubal has over 22 years of government experience, including an extensive background in finance and accounting. She has served as the City Comptroller for 11 years.
