Fall Harvest nearing its end

Fall is here, meaning winter is right behind. Area farmers are near, or nearing the final stretch of the harvest. Observers are OK saying the harvest is wraping up in the next two – three weeks.  Report cards coming in point to favorable results, considering a tough early growing season with the drought.

After this harvest concludes, the work continues, this time in the form of winter and spring preparation.

As November nears, weather will determine a lot of what’s next. Fall tillage, some cover-crop planting, maybe some no-till for next year.

Corn and soybean yields are pretty good – more than halfway thru the harvest.
