Farmer Flood Help extended in Illinois

The Illinois Department of Agriculture is offering a $400,000 cover crop incentive program for farmers who have filed Prevented Planting claims in an ongoing effort to assist farmers hit with record flooding. The state is also set to meet with the federal government where Illinois will recommend an agricultural disaster be declared for the state. That would allow for additional federal assistance to be freed up.

Meanwhile, Governor JB Pritzker has taken additional steps to assist farmers hurt by record rainfall and flooding.  The governor has called on agency directors to make sure farmers can have access to state resources.  The Department of Agriculture and Illinois Emergency Management Agency are both involved in making sure help is available.
