Fatal accident in Newton County

A Morocco, Indiana man was killed and his wife injured (Saturday) in a two-vehicle collision in Newton County, IN. Sheriff’s Police investigated 3 miles northeast of Morocco at County Road 200 and 100 E.
45-year-old Wayne Day was pronounced dead at the scene. His wife, 48-year-old Beverly Day, was air-lifted to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. Day’s southbound van was hit by a pick-up driver who failed to yield the right-of-way at the intersection, according to police.

The pick-up driver, 70-year-old Eli Vujko of Crown Point, was treated at the scene and refused further medical treatment. The accident is under investigation. Emergency responders answered the all at 3:40 pm.
Emergency help assisting included Morocco Fire and Morocco Police, Indiana State Police, Newton County Ambulance and Lutheran Air Ambulance.
