A 39-year-old Kentland, In woman was killed (Thursday) morning in a single-vehicle crash just south of the South Newton High School. Newton County Sheriff’s Police investigated just before 6:30 am at County Road 144S at County Road 50E. The sheriff’s department reported an SUV was eastbound when it left the road, hitting a bridge at CR 50E. The driver and sole occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene. The name of the driver was being withheld pending notification.

South Newton schools were contacted to re-route bus traffic for the morning route.
