Fatal I-65 crash closes northbound I-65

A pickup driver from Porter, Indiana is dead after his truck slammed into a semi tractor-trailer on I-65 in White County. Indiana State Police closed the northbound lanes to investigate. It happened Monday evening south of the U.S. 231 exit.

Police reported the driver of a pickup didn't notice traffic slowing in front of him and rear-ended the semi trailer hauling a steel roll.

The driver of the pickup is identified as 34-year-old Michael Kehle.

Police say the pickup burst into flames. Several Good Samaritans tried to pull the driver out, but the flames were hot. The driver died at the scene.

State police had traffic hut down from about 7:40 pm until 1 am today.

         Two semis crash in Jasper County

Two other semi drivers were injured Monday afternoon when their semi -trucks collided on I-65. Both driver were treated for non-life threatening injuries, according to State Police.

28-year-old Jarvis Brown of Joliet was stopped in the right lane when the crash occurred. A semi driven by Joseph Fox of Petersburg, IN was in the right lane when hit the rear of Brown’s trailer. Several emergency crews were at the scene.
