Newton County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a fatal motorcycle crash Monday north of Mount Ayr. A southbound cycle operated by a Rensselaer man failed to negotiate a curve at CR 525E near CR 225S. 48-year-old Wayne Cornwell was ejected from the motorcycle and pronounced dead at the scene. Police said the driver was not wearing a helmet. The accident happened about 5:30 pm.
