Fatal Snowmobile crash trial begins in Kankakee

A 42-year-old Manteno man is standing trial for operating a snowmobile under the influence of drugs. The trial for Brian Johnson finds him charged for the death of his girlfriend in December of 2016. 24-year-old Kristin Agrue died when she fell from Johnson’s snowmobile and was then hit by a second snowmobile behind them.

The accident happened in Manteno Township, at 11000 N and 2600 E Roads. Testimony was presented (Wed) in Kankakee Circuit Court.

Police reports indicated Agrue was fatally injured when struck by the trailing snowmobile, operated by Louis Morez of Manteno. Police had reported both Johnson and Morez were under the influence of alcohol and cocaine at the time of the accident. Last spring, Morez was tried and convicted of DUI. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
