One person is dead following a collision between a vehicle and a train (Tuesday night). The driver of a pickup was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity is being held pending notification of family.

Iroquois County Sheriff’s Police, the Coroner’s Office, Woodland Fire and Riverside Ambulance were at the scene. The call came in at 11:30 pm . Personnel responded to 1200 N and 2120 E Roads. A preliminary report indicated the westbound pickup was approaching a marked train crossing. The driver failed to stop for the activated stop arm and flashing lights. The pickup hit a northbound train.
