The U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is awarding the Manteno Fire Department a federal grant. The Manteno Fire Protection District has been named a recipient of a $425,000 multi-year grant.

Congresswoman Robin Kelly provided information about the grant.

The salaries. benefits and pensions of three firefighters will be paid over three years. The new hires brings the department up to 23 full-time personnel.
