(Pembroke, IL) -- The FBI raided a Kankakee County township office in Pembroke this week, but it wasn't exactly a surprise. The "Daily Journal" quotes FBI spokesman Brad Ware as saying the four-hour search was part of "an ongoing investigation into corruption."

Township supervisor Sharon White says agents interviewed employees and seized financial documents as a follow-up to her own internal investigation that showed more than 30-thousand-dollars in cash unaccounted for. Township attorney Jim Rowe says community leaders requested the federal investigation.
