Yet another new filing period for candidates gets started today (Monday 12/10) for the April 2nd Consolidated Election.
The filing period runs today thru 5 pm next Monday, December 17.
Area county clerks have issued reminders to potential candidates. This notice is for school district board members and those for County Regional Board of School Trustees. All candidates file petitions at the County Clerk’s Office.
Nomination petitions and other filing forms are available at the County Clerk’s Office through December 17th.
In Iroquois County – candidates interested in the proposed Crescent City/Watseka Consolidated school district file their petitions in the Regional Superintendent of Schools Office in Kankakee (1 Stuart Drive).
All other offices including City/Village Mayor or President, Clerk, Commissioners, Trustees, Aldermen, Library District Trustees and others file with their local election official. Other positions include Park District Commissioners or Trustees, Community College District Trustees, Fire Protection District Trustees, and Township Land Commissioners.
In Kankakee County --- elections will be held for City/Village Office-holders, school board members, park district and library trustees. Referenda may also be held.
Only candidates for school board members will file with the County Clerk. All others, again, will submit paperwork with the approprirate local election clerk.
A Consolidated Primrary Election will be held February 26th for democratic Voters in the 1st, 2nd, 5th and 6th Wards and for Republican Voters in the 6th Ward in the City of Kankakee.
