Fire damaged a house in the 11-hundred block of N. Chicago Avenue in Kankakee Thursday morning. Officials believe it started after an electric heater was left on when the occupants left for the day. No one was home. There was no injury. Damage estimates were not available, according to Fire Chief Damon Schuldt.

The American Red Cross was contacted to assist the family.
