Daylight Saving Time is back. Those clocks should have been moved ahead an hour before you called it a night Saturday. Fire department officials always remind folks to check the batteries in those smoke detectors too. The National Fire Protection Association says having working smoke detectors in your home cuts fire deaths by 60%.
Firefighters make it a habit to say daylight savings is a good time to get in the habit of keeping alarms up-to-date. Carbon monoxide detectors, too. You’re supposed to have a carbon monoxide detector in your home. Most firefighters will even help people install a new smoke detector – just call your local department if you need help. And make it a habit to check the batteries often, at least once a month.
