Water supplies from 13 fire departments provided mutual aid to Sheldon early (Thursday) when fire destroyed a home in the 500-block of N. 4th Street. Sheldon Fire Chief Adam Zumwalt said the house was a total loss. No one was injured. There was no one home when the dispatch was received at 12:20 am. Chief Zumwalt said it appeared to be ceiling fire, but the cause is under investigation. The fire was not suspicious.

Fire tenders responding included those from Concord, Donovan, Stockland, Wellington and Milford. Also Watseka, Crescent City, Woodland, Martinton, Kentland, Morocco and Brook – in Indiana.
