Ford County Circuit Judge Matt Fitton sentenced a Paxton man to 3-years in prison (Friday) for a 2016 crash that killed a 19-year-old Paxton woman. Thomas Hoekstra offered his apologies to the court before he was sentenced for reckless homicide in the death of Kourtni Sue Eastman.
The 28-year-old Hoekstra pleaded guilty to the Class 3 felony charge. Two other felony charges of aggravated DUI were dismissed in exchange for the plea.
The Ford County Record reported Hoekstra will also pay more than $18,000 restitution. He admitted driving drunk when southbound on Route 45, crossing the centerline and colliding head-on with a northbound car. Miss Eastman was a front-seat passenger in the car. Three others were injured.
