The driver of a car and its passenger were killed this (Thursday) morning in a crash with a semi-trailer on Illinois Route 9 in Ford County. It happened west of Paxton at County Road 1300 E.

Illinois State Police and the Ford County Coroner’s Office investigated just after 10 am.

Police report the car was eastbound on Illinois 9 when the driver lost control and struck the semi head-on. The driver of the car and a passenger in the car were pronounced deceased at the scene.

Names of those involved were not available. The accident remained under investigation.
