Ford County Jail sued by former inmate

The Ford County Jail is named in a lawsuit. David Horn’s suit alleges he was denied medication for his diabetic condition while he served time in the Paxton Jail.  A lawsuit filed May 21is seeking $50,000 for a violation of Horn’s civil rights and for inflicting emotional distress.

Horn’s lawyer (Travis Dunn) alleges that Horn informed officers that he was a diabetic “at risk of suffering strokes, and that he required constant access to, and administration of, certain medications to maintain his health and well-being.” He was allowed to bring his medications with him into the jail and officers made a note in his booking paperwork that he needed access to it while in the jail.

Horn served time in July of 2020. While jailed, the suit states Horn became ill and suffered a stroke. Today, Horn says he still has headaches and has problems focusing to express himself verbally.
