Loda attorney Ross Sorensen has withdrawn as a candidate for the Ford County circuit judge's post in the March 18 Republican primary election.
Sorensen's decision results in a two-person race. Ford County State's Attorney Matt Fitton of Paxton and attorney Ellen Lee of Paxton are the remaining candidates seeking to fill the seat vacated by the resignation of Judge Stephen Pacey.
The state board of elections website shows Lee will appear first on the ballot, followed by Fitton. The primary winner will appear on the November ballot for the General Election.
The 30-year-old Sorensen revealed in a statement "it was a family decision; after discussion with family, we've decided now is not the right time to pursue a race for circuit judge." Sorensen stated, "we're thankful for the support of more than 1,000 Ford County residents who helped place us on the ballot."
