A Paxton mother and daughter are charged with bringing drugs into the Ford County Jail.
49-year-old Angela Purtell and 21-year-old Harleee Nelson face felony charges. Paxton Police claim Nelson was caught on surveillance video throwing a substance over a fence into the jail’s recreational yard. Purtell, who is an inmate at the facility, then was observed recovering the drugs and taking them back to her cell to allegedly share with other inmates.
The transaction took place August 17. The State’s Attorney’s office is reviewing the case for possible additional charges.
Harlee Nelson is already on probation for a 2018 burglary case. Angela Purtell was jailed for three misdemeanor theft cases after failing to comply with court orders.
