A man in his 70's is Ford County's first confirmed case of the COVID-19 disease. The resident tested positive for coronavirus, according to the Ford County Public Health Department.
“We ask that if you are sick or have symptoms, please stay home and self-isolate. By doing this, you help protect others from unnecessary exposure,” stated Lana Sample, public health administrator.
Kankakee County Public Health reports its numbers are up to 42, the latest a man in his 30's. Officials also report up to 11 people at the Shapiro MentalH Health Center are being monitored for the disease.
Illinois has 5,056 known coronavirus cases after state officials reported 461 more cases and 8 more deaths Monday. Statewide, 73 people have died since the outbreak began.
Meanwhile, the McCormick Place COVID-19 field hospital will have 500 beds available by the end of the week, Gov. J.B. Pritzker announced Monday.
