Unofficial numbers show Paxton resident Krisha Shoemaker is the winner of the Ford County Treasurer’s contest in Tuesday’s election. Shoemaker defeated Kasi Schwarz of Roberts for the Republican nomination.

The county’s 22 precincts having reported show the margin of victory at 976-806 with some write-in ballots yet to be counted.

Shoemaker will succeed Judy Hastings of Paxton, who was appointed to the position of interim treasurer last December following the retirement of Penny Stevens. Hastings is serving as treasurer until Nov. 30, when Shoemaker takes office.
