Ford County: Two Police Officers shot in Gibson City, suspect on the run

                      Reports of a naked man walking alerted officers, leading to two officers being shot

Law enforcement officers have been searching for a suspect who allegedly shot two police officers in Gibson City early Saturday.  70-year-old David Jordan of Gibson City is identified as the man walking naked on Ash Street about 2:30 Saturday morning.  Gibson City Police and Ford County answered the initial call of a naked man.  Illinois State Police reported Jordan should be considered armed and dangerous.  Officers were met with gunfire when they made contact with the suspect.  Both officers were taken to hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

The whereabouts of David Jordan was unclear Sunday.  The investigation was aking anyone with info to contact Gibson City Police at 217-784-8666.

Adding to the bizarre story was that Jordan's house was on fire, alerting Gibson City Fire shortly after the shooting. The fully-engulfed house fire at 146 W. Ash Street also prompted mutual aid from Sibley, Elliott and the Melvin-Roberts Fire departments. A second houe fire was reported at 142 W. Ash.

Gibson City and Paxton Fire, along with the State Fire Marshal assisted State Police.
