Ford County wreck kills Piper City teen

A 19-yr-old Piper City woman was killed (Wednesday) in a one-vehicle traffic accident in Ford County.  Anayeli Medina was a passenger in a northbound car that left Illinois Route 115 and hit a guardrail south of Roberts. Illinois State Police said the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. State Police report it happened about 9:30 am near County Road 1175 N.

The driver of the car was 24-yr-old Randy O. Lopez of Piper City. Police reported Lopez and passenger, 20-yr-old Gabriela Shurr of Piper City were taken to an area hospital with injuries.

Police report the car ran off the road for an unknown reason, The vehicle veered into the southbound lane and came to rest in a ditch after hitting the guardrail.

Lopez was cited for driving with a suspended driver’s license, failure to wear a seatbelt and improper lane usage.
