Forecasters predict 1 and 3 inches of rain thru Friday

Public Works crews were cleaning up debris today in Bradley and Kankakee. It was debris washed up into some residential areas from the Winter.


Storm water blanketed some streets after the early-morning rain. Ponding was reported on several streets while the work crews cleared gutters and sewer covers.


In southeast sections of Iroquois County, Lovejoy, Fountain Creek, and the Milford areas reported some flooding. Additional rainfall thru Friday will keep river-watchers on alert.


Flood Advisories have been issued for Sugar Creek at Milford and the Kankakee River at Momence. The potential for flooding will be around thru the weekend.

The overnight rain did not cause any major road closures or flooding, but it could be only the initial soaking. The National Weather Service has forecast between 1 and 3 inches of rain by this evening, with some severe thunderstorms possible.
