Former Hoopeston resident sentenced to 25 years

Donald Langston is headed to prison for the home invasion and beating of his estranged wife in 2020.  The former Hoopeston resident was convicted by a Vermilion County Jury in March (2022).  The jury also convicted Langston for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. 

The jury heard evidence that on February 7, 2020 Langston forced his way into his estranged wife's new house.  Armed with a baseball bat and BB gun, Langston beat his wife and family members, causing severe injuries.  Circuit Judge Charles Hall handed down the sentence.  State's Attorney Jacqueline Lacy pointed to the victims' courage in testifying in the case and for their effort in reporting the crime and holding tru to obtaining justice.  Lacy also thanked the Hoopeston Police Department.
