Former Livingston County Sheriff Marvin Rutledge is running for the job again.
Rutledge announced Monday his intention to challenge the incumbent and another announced-candidate in 2014. Rutledge served two terms as sheriff but did not seek re-election in 2002.
He said in a statement Monday "I would best serve this county as your sheriff."
Rutledge was serving the Livingston County department as chief deputy. That was until his resignation Monday morning.
Current Sheriff Marty Meredith has not yet said if he'll seek re-election for a second term next year.
Rutledge joins Mark Scott, an officer with the Dwight Police Department, as a candidate for the sheriff's post. Scott announced his candidacy on Sunday.
Both candidates and Meredith are Republicans.
