Former Watseka Auxiliary-Cop arrested for child sexual assault

A 49-year-old Watseka man is jailed in Iroquois County charged with the alleged sexual assault of a child. Bond was set Friday afternoon in Iroquois Circuit Court at $50,000 for Jeffery Harman, who's a former member of the Watseka Auxiliary Police.

The case brought before Judge Gordon Lustfeldt.

Harman was arrested Thursday on 10-counts for allegedly sexually assaulting a child over a four-year period. Sheriff investigators said the alleged crimes happened between 1995 and 1999.

The now-27-year-old victim told police that Harman began sexually assaulting her when she was 8 years old, according to investigators.

Assistant Iroquois County State's Attorney Alex O'Brien said the felony charges carry a penalty of 6-30 years in prison, if convicted.

Harman was arrested after a week-long investigation.
