An Illinois State Trooper killed in the line-of-duty will be laid to rest later this week. Trooper Clay Carns of Orland Park was hit and killed by a driver who violated Scott’s Law.
Carns died at an area hospital after he was struck while moving debris from I-55 near Channahon last Monday night. A Wilmington man, 69-year-old John Fleet, was arrested for violating Illinois’ Scott’s Law, requiring motorists to Move Over for emergency vehicles.
A Go Fund Me Page has been set up to assist the family of Trooper Carns. Carns leaves behind his wife, Meghan, and two children.
Visitation is set for Thursday at Parkview Christian Church in Orland Park. A funeral service is Friday at the church.
