Gibson Area Hospital & Health Services is proud to announce that CEO Rob Schmitt has been named the Gibson Area Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year. The honor came at the Annual Chamber dinner held in Gibson City.
Rob Schmitt’s leadership abilities, as stated in the nomination, inspire others to follow him, and is one of the reasons he has served as Chairman for several local organizations. Rob is a leader who has a true passion for helping others and volunteering. He serves the community by assisting with the food pantry, volunteering as a football coach, and in the past has served as an officer with the GCMS band boosters and as a Ford County youth soccer coach.
Schmitt is an active member on the Rotary Club, Lions Club, Ford County Knights of Columbus, and a valuable volunteer at all Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church functions, and of course, Gibson Area Chamber of Commerce.
As CEO at Gibson Area Hospital, Rob Schmitt encourages the 700+ employees to get involved in the community and volunteer for projects that interest them. The nomination also states “Mr. Schmitt is a person who truly makes a difference.”
The award marks the third time in five years a difference maker from GAHHS has received this award, when Robin Rose and Miranda Leonard also received the Citizen of the Year honor in 2012 and 2015.
