An apartment fire in downtown Gibson City (Thursday) spread to two other neighboring businesses, while keeping firemen on the job the entire day. No injuries have been reported. Mayor Dan Dickley has asked citizens to conserve water.
Some businesses actually chose to re-locate to prevent smoke and water damage.
Firemen battled the flames and smoke from aerial truck. Mutual aid provided additional water supplies.
An Agriculture business (Heritage FS) brought in water supply tankers to assist firemen. Several area fire units provided mutual aid. The huge fire is believed to have started in a second-story apartment. No one was hurt by Thursday’s fire, but several pets died. The cause is under investigation.
