26-year-old Samuel Johnson of Gibson City was killed in a head-on collision Thursday evening on a rural road in Champaign County. Illinois State Police and the Champaign County Coroner’s Office investigated.

In a news release, Coroner Duane Northrup stated Johnson was driving his vehicle west on 3000 North near 1100 East when the car crossed the center line and hit a second vehicle head-on. Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene. Two people in the other car were taken to an area hospital.  An autopsy for Johnson is scheduled.
