A two-vehicle crash in Livingston County Saturday claimed the life of a 67-year-old Gibson City woman. Jerrie Enghausen was a passenger in an SUV driven by her husband, James Enghausen. The accident happened just before 4:30 pm near Fairbury. Police report James Enghausen was northbound on 2200 E Road when a second vehicle failed to stop, hitting the Enghausen unit. 19-year-old Mark Gal was eastbound on 600 N Road when he ran thru a stop sign.
The Livingston County Coroner’s Office reported Gal and a child were transported to St. James Hospital in Pontiac and later released. The Coroner’s Office stated the passenger in Enghausen’s vehicle was pronounced dead shortly after the incident. James Enghausen was airlifted to St. Francis Hospital in Peoria where he was listed in stable condition. Gal was cited for disobeying a stop sign by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office.
