The Illinois Attorney General is issuing an advisory to Illinoisans ahead of Giving Tuesday. The Tuesday after Thanksgiving is typically a day when people are encouraged to make donations to charities and causes that are important to them. Attorney General Kwame Raoul is cautioning potential donors to make wise decisions when choosing where to donate. Raoul said pay close to the name of the charity and ask questions. Also, never pay in cash for security and tax record purposes.
Scams are part of the holiday season. The A-G's office suggests you know who you're dealing with and never give out personal information.
