The village of Manteno is taking advantage of the growing popularity in recent years of Illinois cities that have allowed golf carts on village/city streets.

Manteno's first ever golf cart parade kicks off this (Friday) at 6:45 in Heritage Park. Village Event Planner Sarah Marion says expect the parade entries to show their creativity in a big way.

"We encourage people to get creative with their golf cart. We just don't want candy throwing during the parade," Marion said. "We have a convenient charm about our community."
