WATSEKA – Governor Pat Quinn today announced a capital investment of more than $347,000 to replace a bridge in Iroquois County, part of his Illinois Jobs Now! capital construction program. The project is part of Governor Quinn's agenda to create jobs and drive Illinois' economy forward.

"Our investment will make traveling in Iroquois County easier and easier," Governor Quinn said. "The project will also employ a number of construction workers, which will help the local economy."

A bridge carrying County Highway 15 over Pike Creek about 5.3 miles north of U.S. Route 24 will be replaced for $347,906 by Iroquois Paving Corporation of Watseka, the lower of two bidders. The project will be overseen by the Illinois Department of Transportation.

"I am very pleased to see that the work for this project will be done by a local contractor and will ensure that the funds will be kept in our area, bolstering our economy," State Representative Josh Harms (R-Watseka) said.

The project is part of Governor Quinn's $31 billion Illinois Jobs Now! program, which will support more than 439,000 jobs over six years. Illinois Jobs Now! is the largest capital construction program in Illinois history, and is one of the largest capital construction programs in the nation. {article submitted}
