Emergency crews were on the scene of a traffic mishap this (Friday) morning …a 2-vehicle crash at the intersection of Route 52 and 1500 E Road in Iroquois County. Route 52 closed for an hour while clean-up was underway.

The accident involved an empty hopper-bottom semi and a pickup truck pulling a loaded 500-bushel wagon. Ashkum Fire Chief Jeff Glenn said the pickup ended up underneath the semi-trailer, with the semi-trailer and one wagon tire suspended off the ground. No injuries. Two heavy-duty wreckers were called from Central Body Repair to lift the vehicles off each other. Martinton Fire assisted with traffic detail at Route 1 and 52.

District 21 Illinois State Police investigated the crash.
