A 26-year-old man who was a former coach at Momence high school is under arrest for the alleged battery and rape of a teenage girl. Matthew Kole was in custody Friday. His bond was set at $50,000 in the case that saw the investigation begin in 2016. Kole was arrested then but he was released when the Kankakee County State's Attorney's office wanted more evidence.
The case cites two occasions when the crime happened, in Bradley and at Kole's parent's home in Newton County, Indiana.
Kole is charged with felony sexual battery and rape involving a 16-year-old.
At the time of the initial arrest, Kole was fired from the Momence coaching job. He resigned a teaching position in the Kankakee Area Special Cooperative. He was also a coach in the Grant Park school district.
