A six-year-old girl was killed in a car crash near Gardner (Friday). The afternoon crash is under investigation. The Sheriff's Department and Grundy County Coroner's Office reported the vehicle driven by the child’s mother was northbound on Route 66 when she approached the stop sign intersecting with Route 53. The woman lost control and rolled several times coming to rest in a grassy field.
The child was ejected from the vehicle and later transported to Morris Hospital. Coroner John Callahan said Ryliegh Williams suffered multiple blunt force injuries and was pronounced dead upon arrival at an area hospital. Records indicate the family was not from the immediate area.
