An 18-year-old Clarence (IL) resident will be sentenced in January for his role in what prosecutors call a homegrown terrorist organization. Ellis Mack pleaded guilty (Tuesday) in federal court to unlawful possession of a machine gun.
Mack is looking at 20 years in prison. The News-Gazette reports Mack’s offense was one of the more serious against him – conspiracy to interfere with commerce by threats and violence.
The plea agreement calls for Mack to work with prosecutors in a case against three other defendants involved in a plan to bomb a mosque in Minnesota and the attempted bombing of a women’s center in Champaign (IL).
The other defendants include 47-year-old Michael Hari, 29-year-old Michael McWhorter, and 23-year-old Joe Morris. All are from Clarence. Their trial is tentatively set for November in Urbana.
