Sheriff's Police in Vermilion County are piecing together details trying to determine what led to a work-place shooting Thursday near Georgetown.
Sheriff Pat Hartshorn said police were called to the DynaChem plant around 2:30 pm where a lone gunman had shot the company president, then turned the gun on himself.
The sheriff said the DynaChem president was shot in the head and hip. He was taken to an Urbana hospital. The wounds are not believed to be life-threatening.
The deceased gunman was identified by Coroner Peggy Johnson as 65-year-old Wayne D. Woodson. He died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot.
Sheriff Harsthorn said the gunman was a long-time employee of the company, having worked there in excess of 20 years.
The DynaChem plant is located north of Georgetown. The company website says the plant is a domestic producer of industrial resins and specialty chemicals.
