Harbor House candlelight vigil Thursday recognizes Domestic Violence Awareness

October is DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH. And today (Thurs), Harbor House is hosting its 5th annual candlelight vigil; It’s at 6:30 this evening on the Courthouse steos in Kankakee.

Purple lights outside the Courthouse represent the local lives lost over the last year due to domestic violence.  The lights are set by Harbor House, the local nonprofit dedicated to those experiencing issues related to domestic violence, during its annual candlelight vigil.

Speakers at the event include Harbor House Executive Director Jenny Schoenwetter, Rev. Kelly Perotti, Manteno Police Chief Al Swinford among others.

The public is invited to show support.
