It's the 39th annual Harvest Daze in Watseka.  It all begins at 4 pm today (Friday) at the Olde Courthouse Museum.  The annual event features crafts, entertainment and food.  The weekend event is the big fundraiser for upkeep of the museum.

The Woodworth-style fish fry from 4-7 p.m. on the grounds of the Old Courthouse Museum gets it all started. The fish fry is always a sell-out so early arrival is recommended.

Harvest Daze is sponsored by the Iroquois County Historical Society, a non-profit organization which generates support for the Old Courthouse Museum. All events of Harvest Daze occur on or around the museum grounds at 103 W. Cherry, Watseka.

Museum Coodinator Kathy Grazis says 78 vendors were scheduled for set-up. Home décor, plants, woodworking, handcrafted items, foods, farmer’s market items, household, photography, jewelry and accessories, art work and a variety of items for the home will be on display for sale.

Saturday morning's opening ceremony includes a flag-raising event.  American Legion Post #23e and the VFW present the colors.

Musical entertainment is all weekend. The 13th annual Cruise-In will accept registration from 9 a.m. to 12 noon Saturday. The 15th annual Antique Tractor Show will be set up on the south lawn on Sunday. This show is a big attraction and offers lost of nostalgia to the seasoned farmer.

Sunday’s entertainment includes Rusty Wheels Jammers, Vern and Vern (Denault), and the Newton County Community Band.

Food vendors and a pumpkin contest are included.
